Food poisoning-- can you help?!

Question: Dang -- I ate some leftover chicken teriyaki Thursday evening and am so sick. Yesterday I couldn't keep anything down, not even Pepto Bismal or Immodium AD. Rats! I'm so hungry, but when I eat, I get sick to my stomach and I get the chills and can't stop shaking. I must have spent half of yesterday in the bathroom hovering near the toilet and half of today in a hot bath. I'm now keeping very simple foods down, like bananas and chicken soup, but my tummy hurts like someone punched it. I'm such a baby, ha ha, but I'd sure rather be the one taking care of my kids when they're sick than being sick myself.

Okay, I guess I must really be feeling a lot better today than yesterday, because I couldn't even sit at the computer yesterday.

****But is there anything I can do to make my tummy stop hurting? Please don't say Pepto, as just the memory of it coming back up yesterday is enough to make me feel worse. Thanks. :) ******

I have heard if you eat pineapple it makes you feel better

baking soda and water
other then that you have to ride it out it can take up to a week for all the effect to go away

Yeck, I hate Pepto.

Sometimes, eating something with peppermint in it will help soothe the stomach.

Also, try laying a heating pad on your stomach and turning it to a low setting. If you don't have a heating pad, you can wet a wash cloth, put it in the microwave for a few seconds, then take it out and put it in a Ziploc bag. You can then lay that on your stomach. If it is too hot, then take a towel and wrap it around the bag to lessen the heat intensity.

Having some nice warm tea might also help soothe your stomach.

Try putting a cool, damp wash cloth on your forehead and closing your eyes. Then, sip some ice water and rest. Or, you can combine the above steps to help you calm your stomach.
Also, wear comfy, loose clothing to lessen the tension around your stomach.

Most important of all, get rest.

Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!
