Is there anyone who is a pill junkie that has managed to stop on their own?!
Question: I've taken (legally)painkillers of all types, sleeping pills and antianxiety drugs by the handfuls for years. When i stop cold turkey, I only have bad withdrawls for about a week, but then the craving starts. I feel like I can't live my life without them. Like I will never return to what I once was.
Rehab is out of the question- It costs too much here and I would get fired from work for admitting I had a problem.
So, anyone who has stopped on their own, how did you do it? And how long did it take before the terrible cravings go away?

Since you say that rehab is out of the question, is counseling also? I have to say that I support you in wanting to quit and it is not easy. Pat yourself on the back for taking the first step. I never had a problem with pills, but I did stop using meth cold turkey. I put it down and never did it again. It took about six weeks for my body to feel "normal" again. I did it for about 4 years, so maybe that is why it took a little bit. I hope that you stick with it!
I did the same thing. I managed to stop by myself four months ago, and have only had any twice since then. Its hard stopping on your own but it is possible. good luck =)
