Do people still die of AIDS?!

Question: We don't hear as much of people dying of AIDS as we did when it was first discovered in the early 1980's. What accounts for this?

Yes people STILL do die of AIDS, especially in poor and underdeveloped places like Africa.

The notable decline in AIDS related deaths stems from the fact that the drug companies are making newer and better drugs to help suppress the AIDS virus (and its symptoms), so that people are able to live longer and better lives.

Also, sex education has REALLY driven home the fact that AIDS is an STD...and that the best way to prevent it is to practice SAFE SEX.

they do die of AIDS its just that people dont care anymore

Im not sure. But yes people still die.

Yes they do, but advancements in medical technology and medication have helped to reduce the number.

they do still die but it is not common

well people have taken precautions to try and avoid it........like using condoms and not having as much sex with random partners.........unfortunately this is not the case in Africa

No. Nobody dies of AIDS. They die of other things because AIDS has destroyed their immune system.

millions still die of it, but were used to it now so its not put in the media as much

People are living longer with HIV, but it is still a large epidemic in developing nations, where access to drugs is still low.

people still die from coughs haha
yeah, AIDS is a major cause of death in african countries for example.
and HIV has no cure in no country (aloghou it might be controlable and people can live a long live)

You are kidding, right.

No seriously....you are kidding?

Hundreds die everyday in places where AIDS suppression meds are not available. Hundreds...everyday.

BTW...assuming you aren't REALLY as ignorant as you are coming across, I am going to assume your comment about Michael Jordan reflects your confusion about Magic Johnson.

But really...how do some of you people figure out how to use your computers???

The drug therapies that have been developed prolong life and the quality of life. There is also much more education on the disease, like the different strains, and how some are more aggressive than others.

We just dont hear abou it because it is considered to be "old news" yes people die from it on a regular basis-back in the 80's we heard about it because it was just being brought out and everyone wanted to know about it and were worrying how it was contracted etc--they know more about it now , but still people are not as careful as they should be in exposing theirself to it..

Nobodt has died of AIDS in the same way that nobody dies from 'car crash' People with AIDS die from illnesses caused by the breakdown of the immune system

from my experience alot of STD's are in the poorer countries...the countries that are not advanced in healthcare.....sorry about how brief it is

1) People do not die because of AIDS
2) People die due to AIDS related complications.

This means when you have AIDS your bodies immune system is very weak and can acquire other diseases or infections which can lead to death. Furthermore, some of the medications have bad secondary effects, such as causing heart, respiratory and other irreversible complications problems,.

The point is that you may not hear that people are dying from AIDS because people don't die from AIDS.

Yes people die of AIDS. The neo-moral optimal solution would be if everybody with AIDS died. Of course, I don't believe that it would be a very nice solution.

Yes people still do Die (with) Aids. You just dont here about that anymore. My cousin has had full blown Aids for over 17 years, and has been doing good. It's the Matter of how well you take care of yourself. Aids does not (Kill) you. Your (Immune system) does. Aids is the attack of the immune system so does (HERPES). Thats why it's so severe when they catch any types of colds/Infections. But there are many types of medications out there that can pro-long your life. They actually have found a cure for HIV but it's just so expensive and theres not much to go around. But they are still working on it. I'm a doctor, and i am finishing up my last years in college, and i have worked at a Hospital with Patients who have aids and Herpes that are on there last days of life. Everyday atleast one of are patients die because there immune system is to weak.(HERPES) is another Disease that you can also die from. From either the Immune system, or the Blisters not being taken care of, and they got completely out of hand. Herpes patients are completely isolated from the world.Because they are to Infected and it is to contagious for them to be around. But if you can keep your Immune system strong. You will be okay!

Absolutely!! They have come a long way with meds. and treatments called cocktails, but there are people who can't afford it, people who don't know they have it etc.. Also In africa it is an epidemic, many many women and children are rappedand this creates a huge spread of it, with little medical options. The peole who do get the right medical treatment, can have a long full life.

peeople dont usually die of aids.what they die of is the condition they cannot control, because the aids have taken all the immunitity to fight it, away. Aids causes all our immune facilities to deteriorate rapidly, that is why people have no strength. to fight their infections, noboby actually dies of A.I.D.S. And, yes it does seem like the world has forgotten about it. but research is still going on to reach a cure.
