Is this anemia?!

Question: I'm always tired, even if I get 11 hours of sleep. I bruise very easily, and I find myself not hungry for a day or more at a time. I also feel very dizzy a lot.

There are other symptoms, but I'm too tired to list them all. Does this sound like anemia?

Anemia occurs when you have less than the normal number of red blood cells in your blood or when the red blood cells in your blood don't have enough hemoglobin, which is a protein. What you're describing sounds like anemia, especially the bruising, dizziness and palor. Anemia can be caused by losing a lot of blood, blood disorders, certain treatments or not enough red meat (iron) in your diet. Also, for iron to be absorbed there must be an adequate amount of Vitamin C in your system. Some symptoms of anemia are fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headaches, feeling cold in your hands or feet and pale skin. The first thing you should do is inform your parent(s) and have them schedule an appointment at your local clinic to have a blood test called a CBC done and look at your Hgb. The doc will ask your what you're eating and what your daily schedule is like, i.e. how well you're sleeping at night, exercising, etc... I don't want to scare you but sometimes the symptoms listed above can be signs of leukemia. Please go get this checked soon, honey. If this is the case, the doc will check your white blood cell count to see if it's elevated. Another test your doc should perform is a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) to see what your levels are for that. This could indicated whether or not you have hypothyroidism, which basically has all of the symptoms of anemia, but with the addition of occasional memory loss, brittle nails, weight gain, dry skin & hair and irritability. I hope you chose to go in and get checked. Hopefully it's nothing serious and just need to start taking a multi vitamin. Hope this helps! Good luck, hun. :)

u should definetely see a doctor

Those are some tel tale symptoms of anemia, you best bet would be to get your blood checked, because the bruising and dizziness could be symptoms of something more serious. If you have a wait till you can get to a doctors try taking an Iron supplement (this is what anemia is Low Iron) and a daily multi-vitamin. These should help your immune system and set some problems straight if you have them there. Monitor your diet, eat fresh foods, drink juice and water instead of sugary drinks and soda. Sometimes thats the best way to get your body back on track.

The best thing would be a blood test to rule out any and all possible illnesses. Get to a doctor as soon as possible.

Hope this helps!

I think it's very important for you to see a doctor.
