Wart, duct tape, shower?!

Question: Ok, the doc recommended me to use the duct tape after trying nitrogen and Dorforte gel that didn't seem to work well

My question is: I have to put the tape on for six days. Can I change it? Can I shower with it? It's supposed to prevent the wart from letting air in..so what do I do? and i use the washroom a lot, so I am gonna be washing my hands 24/7 . This is such a headache, can someone give me some directions???

my son has a wart as well and this is what the Dr told me. Use duct tape first. Place a small piece over it to keep the air out. Take a shower/bath like normal and when the tape starts to peel place a new piece over it. My sons Dr told me to use this for 6 wks. Not sure if it's because hes a toddler but she also said if it doesn't work I can use Compound W. Good Luck

try aldara..... its a prescription for warts.

Use germ-X or alcohol to clean your hands as often as possible. And shower still, just try to keep it from getting wet. If it does then just put on a new piece of duct tape. No big deal.

But a little bit of garlic on the wart than wrap it in duct tape. It'll burn for a little bit but it should go away soon.

I am asthmatic and would always get warts because of my medication. I tried the nitrogen several times. My dermo told me to cover it in duct tape all the time. You can shower with it but make sure that the wart is covered, and try not to get it wet. You can change it, but do so quickly. Also, you should buy a medicine and put it on then cover with duct tape. If the nitrogen doesn't work you may want to consider doing the laser treatment. The nitrogen did not work on me that well but the laser treatment took then right off.

Good Luck (:

Your doctor is trying to save you money.

Go to a pharmacist and ask for an occlusive dressing.
They sell them for burn patients. They are quite expensive but ever so much more comfortable than duct tape.
I am allergic to the glue in duct tape and use occlusive dressings for a different disease, but the principle is the same.
You want to wear the dressing 24/7 and leave it on even when you wash.
