Here's a weird problem and I need advise?!

Question: Ok for the past year or longer the left side of my nose has been blocked off (breathing), not completely but I can breath fine out of one nostril & use Vicks Inhaler but the left side has seemed to be closing off. The canal is smaller and I don't know what's happening. Once I take the Vicks it's somewhat better but 20 minutes later it's back. My nose is clear except the narrowing is getting worse, what should I do? Is this weird or what? Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You need to have a doc look at your nose to see if the blockage is from swollen tissue, a polyp, or a deviated septum. Sometimes the docs can see the problem by looking into the nostril, and if nothing is obvious from that, you might need an MRI or more intensive scoping. You can start out with your regular doctor, or go to an ear/nose/throat doc to get evaluated. The symptoms you are describing sound like you might have some type of physical blockage that isn't going away unless it is removed.

It definitely sounds weird. Why haven't you seen a doctor yet? There's Ear/Nose/Throat specialists. You shoul definitely find one.

Sounds like you have a deviated septum (misformed canal) on that side (I have it, too!). My Doc told me it could be corrected by surgery, or I could continue to use inhalants or a prescribed inhaler (which I do). It's not unusual, unless you notice a lump or growth in/on the canal. I just rather not have the surgery!

It's not strange. its rare. Ashley Tisdale had the same problem so she went to get a nose surgery and after everything was fine. You may want to consider that because you wont have to deal withit any more.

i have the exact same thing. you have a deviated septum. i had surgery to have mine fixed. i had so many sinus infections cuz of it. the surgery helped. painful but worth it good luck

I was told i have a deviated septum AND the nostril i can never seem to breath out of- the canal is collapsed. That nose spray makes your nose lining shrink and then swell after wards after you keep using. I used to have an "addiction " to that Vick's spray, afrin, etc and was told i am actually making it worse. You know- i was also told once that having the surgery for the deviated septum is a waste of time. You may want to research that if it's your diagnosis. I could be wrong though- i refuse to have it. I also have severe sleep apnea so the machine i use forces air into my nose through air pillows.

hi ive had same thing went to ent doctor he told me i had polyps in my nose and sooner or later i would have to them removied you need to see ent doctor good luck
