You can practice ways of getting things under control. The first thing to do is to realize that the panic feelings are caused by adrenalin. Even though adrenalin causes you to get jittery, speeds your pulse, makes you breath rapidly, and makes you nauseous, these are just normal responses and they are not an actual threat - they are just uncomfortable. This link has describes a very effective self-help program that you can practice:

Just take deep breaths, inhale for the same amount of time that you exhale to balence out your breathing.

keep using the inhaler until u feel u have enough air.

just lay your head down on a desk and think of things that you enjoy

i do the same
breath in for 8 seconds out for 8 seconds and repeat:]

relax n take amomnnt to yourself

biofeedback can help you to control physiological responses to stress. at minimum, your pulse and galvanic response are recorded while "training" yourself to do some deep breathing. its not going to cure asthma and its not specific for asthma. its also used for people with stress related heart problems, tension and migraine headaches, panic attacks, ptsd... it can be covered by health insurance. it takes multiple sessions and youre supposed to practice at home as well.

at least its not drugs and it cant hurt to try it.
