I have several small red dots on my tongue and it is a little sore. Do I have an!

Question: They are on the top of my tongue

Answers: They are on the top of my tongue

This could be several things. If it is on the top or side of your tongue where you have taste buds (papillae), this could be something as innocent as a swollen tastebud. Often, if you have eaten anything highly acidic, this could create the sore-like spots on your tongue as well.

The best way to figure out if it is swollen papillae is to brush your tongue quite harshly for at least 30 seconds each time you brush your teeth (which that should be at least twice a day.) This will hurt. But, you should notice an improvement within a couple of days.

However, if you do this and it gets worse or spreads, you may want to see a doctor. Start with you dentist. This could be oral cancer lesions which need a diagnosis. If your dentist does not think it is something to be concerned with, and it does not go away or get better, I would see your General Practitioner. You can also go to Planned Parenthood and be screened for STDs.

Hope this helped!!
