Could this be meningitis?!
Question: I went to the doctor today and got tested for strep. It was negative. My doctor tells me I just have a virus. But my throat is red and swollen, my neck is terribly stiff all over, I have a 101 fever, and I'm a bit nauseous. I'm 13. Could I have meningitis or another disease like that?

If your glands (lymph nodes) are swollen, then you probably have tenderness in your neck muscles, which in turn, gives you a stiff neck. While that is the most likely scenario, no one on this site can rule out the possibility of meningitis. Keep in touch with your doctor.
In addition to stiff neck, additional signs of meningitis are severe headache and high fever (usually above 102F). Nausea and vomiting occur frequently.
