My son's horrible excema/staph infections - anyone have a solution?!

Question: we've tried everything. None of the the creams work, I use an entire tub of vaseline on him in a week, nothing helps. The antihistemine does nothing for the itch, even after giving it 3 times per day. His constant scratching has resulted in terrible staph infections (MRSA). We took him to an allergist and he doesn't appear to have food allergies - is there a possibility that a food is causing this, even though he had the allergy skin tests?
I'm at the end of my rope and don't know what to do.

He may need a different antihistimine. Have you tried Claritin for hives? Benadryl seems to work best for me, but it does make me sleepy. He should be drinking at least glasses of water a day, because antihistimines dry you out a lot. A warm bath with 2 cups of epsom salts may relieve the itching. Then try Eucerin calming cream after the bath. He is allergic to something, maybe not food. Use unscented laundry detergent and fabric softener. Have him use unscented Dove soap when he showers. He also may not be getting enough oil in his diet. Olive oil is great for skin problems and is available in gelcaps at the health food store. At least six a day, unless you can get him to take two tablespoons a day. It's not too bad mixed with a little lemon juice.

change his diet

Never use Vaseline - it helps dry skin not heal it.

Try oatmeal soaks (Aveeno) and Vaseline (BRAND) not the product, makes a pure and natural cocoa gel try that after or during a bath -

Keep a journal about the foods he eats - stress, sleep patterns.
And your laundry soaps.
