Can you eat food from a can if the can gets wet?!

Question: Can you eat food from a can if the can gets wet? I had a can of chili that I opened and it was absolutely disgusting. However, I remembered at that time that the bottom of the can had gotten wet during a time when I washed the dishes (I probably did not dry it off). About 1/3 of the contents of the can were either missing or evaporated, and the chili itself almost made me throw up, regarding the stench from the can. There also looked like there could have been some mold present, but I'm not sure, as I immediately pitched it in the toilet. Any thoughts?

Yes, unless the can leaked.

the can rusted out and the food in it was rotting....

it wasnt the water, there are simply occasional bad cans.
buy another, and bathe it if you want.it'll be fine.

and i guarantee you the can didnt rust...he has no idea what he is talking about.
