Yeah that is a high diastolic reading. Especially depending on what the systolic (upper) reading is. However, don't trust a single reading. Repeated measurements are import. A single reading doesn't mean you have hypertension and a single normal reading doesn't mean that you don't have hypertension. There is lots of helpful information online about hypertension as it does affect one in five people or something! I found a site that offers some dietary tips. Hope it helps!

Yes that is high and he should go to the doctors. High blood pressure can cause strokes and heart attacks.
Jordan D is on the money but I will add this; In addition to watching the diastolic number, pay attention to the range between the two numbers as that can indicate the cause of certain problems. Normal BP is 120 over 80. If his pressure is evenly elevated (140 over 100) that is less problematic than a pressure of 120 over 100.

Yes, You need to get him to the doctor to get medicine. Or have a stroke and die young like my falter did. I take medicine for a lower number than he has. LOL It's no big deal I can't tell that I'm taking it.
