Question: can any one explain the structure and functions of the following 3 layers of the epidermis

2- Stratum Spinosum

Stratum Granulosum- third layer of epidermis, at this point in the epidermis, the skin cells are starting to die(keratinization), lysosomes, degeneration of nuclei, granuoles present in this layer, produces keratin.
Stratum spinosum- fourth layer, irregular shaped cells, desmosomes are connections between these cells, some mitosis occurs in tthis layer, "spiny apperance", heavy keratin production, lots of RNA, protein synthesis.
I havent heard of Germinativum...do you mean stratum basale?
