Secondary bacterial infection from flu- side stabbing pain?!

Question: I just took my last antibiotic for a secondary respiratory
infection stemming from the flu.

I don't feel bad but was and am coughing, but
now, I have a sharp stabbing pain so it hurts to pick up
my left arm or carry anything on that side.

It hurts as well to breathe on that side.

I don't want to go to the emergency room for it,
but I am wondering what this is.

I am going to work tomorrow anyway since I just started
this job and don't have a lot of sick days.

Should I go back to the doctor when I do not have a fever?

Really, I never get a fever because my body temperature is so low all the time, though.

No offense to other answerers but it sounds as if you strained a muscle in your rib cage. Sometimes injuries like that occur from the sheer force and frequency of coughing. If you are not running a fever then Try lying on the side that hurts. If it is a strained muscle then the pressure of lying on that side should make it feel better. Get a good cough medicine with dextromethorophan (DM). Even though you say you never get a fever if you were to get a respiratory infection odds are you would run at least a low grade fever. The one person mentioned pneumonia and I provided a link below so you can see if your symptoms match up. Good luck

If you are still symptomatic, go back to the doctor to make sure you still don't have infection that needs to be treated.

Go back to the dr. It could be pnemonia

It's a mean flu, maybe you'll feel better in a few days.

are you sure you don't have Pneumonia? sounds too much like Pneumonia! not to mention usually you don't get antibiotics for the flu because it is a virus.
