Am i allergic to latex?!
Question: last yr when i went to my gyno, like a day after i had hives all over my body. my legs were itchy for months. i thought i had mites, it was that bad. i had bruises all over my legs from scratching so much. i went to my regular doctor and he didn't know what was wrong. so, i just ignored it, and it wasn't that bad these past couple months. i went to my gyno a couple days ago, and i'm itching really bad again on my legs, thighs, and upper arms. i'm thinking it's a coincidence that it only acted up right after i went to the drs. i was thinking maybe i'm allergic to the latex gloves or something? i go crazy at night, it itches so bad. i'm not sexually active, so i don't know if i'm allergic to condoms. someone help!
i'm going back to the doctors for a test in a couple weeks. is there a way they can find out if i'm allergic to latex?

I have a latex allergy and my son has severe food allergies. So, I think you could be allergic to latex (everyone reacts differently and not everyone goes into anaphylaxis) or you could have a number of different allergies.
Definitely go for allergy testing, it's easy, a blood test or skin prick test is all you need. Ask your PCP.
yes and i would just assume i were...people have different reactions..i have a friend that cant even be around anything that was painted with latex paint...and has to carry an epi pen...
Honestly it might be a coincidence. Allergic reactions do cause hives but what your getting doesn't seem to be an allergic reactions. Usually if you're that allergic to it you can result in anaphylaxis which is vasodilation and bronchoconstriction resulting in death. Also all hive allergic reactions should happen within 15 minutes or less, while anaphylaxis would happen within seconds. So breaking out in hives one day after going to the gyno doesn't seem like an allergic reaction.
The doctors can test for allergies against latex, and make the final call on it, but my opinion is that you don't have allergies against latex.
Could be? did they touch you in those areas with the gloves on? Next time you are at the doctor tell them you may have had a reaction last time latex was used and they will use the latex free gloves.
