Has anyone had thyroid problems?!
Question: I Would like to know if anyone has personally been diagnosed with a thyroid problem. If so, then what were your symtoms and how were they treated?

Yes, I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an auto-immune disease of the thyroid...it's like hypothyroidism (low thyroid). I had an episode of hyperthyroid when I lost a lot of weight without trying, was very active, jittery.
Then it changed & became low. I was very fatigued, wanted to sleep all the time, gained weight.
I take Synthroid & Cytomel because my MD is not sure I can convert the T4 to T3.
IF you have already been diagnosed, they usually treat it with medication.
If you haven't been diagnosed, have the following tests: TRH (which MDs don't usually give); TSH; Free T3; FreeT4; Calculated T3; &Calculated T4.
Your blood might be in the "normal" range, but if it is close to either end, you can still have a thyroid problem that needs to be treated.
If your MD doesn't do this, try another MD.

Good Luck
yes, i have hypo thyroid and i was diagnosed through endocrinologist you feel sluggish and very tired.. they give you medication and keep checking it till it is balanced
I was diagnosed with a multi-nodular goiter which means that my thyroid had a few cysts in it and the entire thyroid was enlarged. It was difficult for me to swallow and there was a swelling in my throat. My thyroid levels fluctuated so sometimes I was very sluggish, when they were low, or my heart would race and I would shake when they were high. Eventually I had my thyroid removed and am now on synthroid. I feel MUCH better!
