Could i have mono?!

Question: My cousin just found out she has mono and that means she has had it for about 2 weeks. In these past two weeks we have been haning out alot, i took a sip off of her go girl and her iced tea at chilis and whatever else i can't remember. I am actually sick today with cold symptoms but the past 3 days i have taken 3 hour naps after school. How likely is it if I have mono? Should I go get tested for it?

Yes, you should see a Dr., but Mono has to run its course, no cure, cause its a virus. But you need to know so you can decrease the chance of spreading it.

Yes. Go get tested! All you can do is sleep it off.

Yes the test would be good to take, only you have to be sick for a week before the test will work.

You almost never know who you catch mono from because the person who is sick has been contagious 7 weeks before she developed any symptoms. Some people never really catch the disease and are immune to it. Some people just carry it in their blood and don't have symptoms although they test positive on the test.

I guess you know that mono will give you a bad sore throat with fever and tiredness. But mono doesn't cause a cough.

Hard to tell if you will catch it. Maybe you'll just have a light case. But I bet you don't even catch it from her.

You may have mono, but you did not likely get it from your cousin. The incubation period is about 30 - 50 days. Also, the test for mono doesn't become positive until you have been symptomatic for about a week. Several illnesses present with fatigue. If yours persists, you should see your doctor.

Mono starts with a really bad sore throat. The symptoms are so much like strep throat that doctors won't even test for mono usually until after you've been sick 3 weeks.
You certainly could have picked up the mono virus from a friend; but it affects different people differently. Some get a bad case, some a mild case, and some don't even get sick. You will probably just have to wait to find out; in the meantime, don't share drinks or food, or kiss on the mouth.
Mono is a virus so there is no cure, but it is never fatal, and once you've had it you can't get it again. Strep is cured with antibiotic. If you have a bad case of mono, it can take months or longer to get your full energy back, though the infection is over within a month and you won't be contagious.
My daughter had a bad case of mono for her 13th birthday. She was so lethargic I set up a recliner in the kitchen and took care of her there; she only got up to go to the bathroom. As you can imagine, I didn't want to catch whatever she was suffering from, and I was very careful to wash my hands! She wasn't coughing or sneezing, so I didn't worry about airborne infection. At the end of the month she had no symptoms except weakness; she'd been in bed for 4 solid weeks. It took her 2 or 3 years to regain her former energy, and it was hard on her. But now she's fine.
So, I hope you don't have it; but if you do, try not to pass it on.
My best wishes to you.

well have u been KISSING boys???
