Rabies from Kamakazie Cat????!
Question: Okay i'm back =]. If u havent read my question about a kamakazie cat before can u read cuz i don't feel like typing that thing again.
Okay so i think i might have rabies (Hypocondriact-i sometime overreact) i read somewhere that sore throat is a symptom of rabies. My throat just began to hurt like an hr ago. how long does it take for symtoms to oocur? is it really a symptom? the cat lives outside but i'm not sure its been vaccinate for rabies
plz this may b a matter of life and death!

Hmmm.... If your mouth starts to foam and you feel the urge to bite someone, call a doctor!
On a more serious note,
I don't know much about rabies itself, but common sense tells me it might be advantagous to try and catch the cat and have it tested for rabies at a volunteer animal hospital. If it turns out the cat has rabies and it broke skin when it bit you, seek medical attention immediately. Either way, if you can't catch the cat, call your doctor. Other than rabies, there are MANY more diseases that could come from a cat, so act fast.
Go to your doctor and get tested.
Did the cat bite you?
If so, cat bites are highly infectious. A cats mouth contains staff and you will need a tetanus as well as antibiotics. This article here can answer more questions on that.

About the rabies thing. You need to contact a poison control hot line. They are trained to help assess situations where you feel you may have been exposed to rabies. I actually had to take rabies shots this past summer. Heres the article that I wrote and the pic of the cat bite is my own.
