My friend bruised two ribs and had to go to the ER-his blood pressure was 203/12!
Question: they never said a word about it-but isn't that super HIGH??????
Answers: they never said a word about it-but isn't that super HIGH??????
It is very high. In fact this is termed as a hypertensive emergency. Pain does cause an increase in blood pressure but PAIN ALONE WOULD NOT EXPLAIN THIS DRASTIC INCREASE. There is an underlying cause that should have been investigated. Your friend should get this checked out with his/her physician. Blood pressures that high can lead to strokes and other diseases (kidney and heart and lungs).
Sincerely,
Doc
That is very high. Pain and trauma may have been a contributing factor but it should be checked again and if it continues at that level he needs immediate treatment.
During episodes of pain Bp tend to elevate once pain is relived bp will start to decline.
it is common for your blood pressure to be elevated when you are experiencing a high level of pain
Looks like it to me, but I'm not a doctor. Don't play one on TV, either. Is he obese? Elderly? Those numbers sound like a stroke waiting to happen.
