Chronic chest pain...read details?!

Question: Hi, I visited my family doctor in '05 for chest pain on my left side. She did a chest x-ray, hooked me up to a heart testing machine (forgot the acronym), and a breast exam....she couldn't find anything! Now, the pain's worse than ever in both the inner chest and breast; so I'm thinking I need further help. But before going back, I'm wondering if anyone could advise me on what to research first, or what questions I might ask? Thanks so much.

If you've had problems since 05 and they haven't cleared up, you better go to your family doctor and get a referral to a cardiologist. Not to scare you, but you may have a partially blocked artery to your heart.
NOW : My hypothesis is this : You have a severe case of Gas in your upper chest. Too much caffeine could cause this or just the foods that you eat. You may have a gastrointestinal problems. You may also want your family physician to refer you to a gastroenterologist.
*Important* Seek medical attention immediately. My neighbor of 30 years just fell over dead of a massive heart attack. He was the mayor of our town, school bus driver for our county and Captain of the firefighters in our district. He was a very good serving man. Death does not discriminate, it takes the good and the bad. Seek medical attention ASAP. You may live to tell about it 20 30 40 50 years from now. Good luck and God Bless!

Definitely need a new dr. Radiologist, pulmonologist or cardiothoracic--probably cardiothoracic.

Try pulmonologist. But then again, alot of medical problems can cause this, I have horrid chest pain and the reason I do is because of brain problem. So obviously it took years to diagnose. So just do as much research as you can and when you go to doctors be as clear and detailed as possible.

Goodluck!

Well I dunno if this will help or not, but I myself would get sharp pain in my chest. It felt like I was having a heart attack. I honestly thought I was going to die, the pain was so much. It would be unbearble, sometimes I would cry. Other times I would just yell, I didn't know what to do. I went to the doctors many times for chest exams and like you they couldn't find any thing. Then I learned that when you have gas you can have symptoms like chest pain, and its the result of heartburn or acid reflex. Then I watched what I ate and the foods I had eaten could cause gas. So just realize what your eating and if those foods can cause gas. Its always good to look down all paths and if thats not the case, then sorry I wasn't able to help. But I hope that a little piece of my knowledge will beable to help you.

Ever had asthma? Have you been on an inhaller? Is the pain worse when you exercise? Do you have a cough? Is it productive--coughing up mucous? See your doctor, but have the answers to these questions in mind. Does your family have any history of chest pain/cardio/pulmonary problems?
