Diabetic finger sticks?!

Question: is there anyone else with this issue? I have noticed, as of recent, that I have-to watch which finger I stick to get a proper reading.
one finger will read extremely high while another, under 2 seconds, will read lower.
is this due to thicker skin in areas, like the end tips or am I better off to stick into softer tissues farther down the fingers?

is this due to too much callous build-up?

I use the drum strips..you dont have to touch them..sometimes when you have to put them in yourself..if your finger touches where the blood goes..it will throw your reading off..also i use the soft side of my finger to stick..i think it does better.

hi,
Cellular fluid that leaks into the blood sample will effect the reading (lower it). Some spots will have more than others. If you can wipe away the first drop and you will get a more accurate reading. Make sure your meter is calibrated!

i heard that u need to wipe off the first drop of blood because it has more interstitial fluid.....maybe you shoud try both areas first wiping off the first drop of blood see if that helps with the consistency

do you clean off your finger tip before poking? maybe you touched something and that threw it off. you should always wipe it off with a cleaning alcohol swab before you stick anyway for sterility.
