With such a important question you should contact the National Blood Service by phone

yyou will need medical advice from your doctor, just to be safe
yes my mam has had arthrititis for years and had donated as it does not actually affect the blood system but if you go to the donation sites and try to donate after you take the questionaire they always ask they will then inform you on if you can donate in future.
i think you can give blood so long as your not on any medication check with your doctor or the clinic where you plan on donating
Oops, saw this under diabetes which I have and I donate all the time - it is actually good to get rid of the "old" blood and kick start the generation of new blood cells. But with regard to your condition, I would have to say you should ask your doctor or consulting nurse. You may not need an office visit if you have the ability to call in a question. Also, your HMO - if you have that - probably has a web site with FAQ or a way to post the question.
Diabetics (type 1 at least) cannot donate blood, I sadly found that out today :(
Arhritis on the other hand - haven't a clue.. but this is the diabetes section
The best way to find out is to fill out the questionaire they always give you at donation sites. Some meds are proscribed - not allowed.
I don't know about rheumatoid arthritis, but I do know all Diabetics can give blood unless they are taking animal insulins which have not been available in the USA for the last 15 years or they have lived in Europe in the last 15 years either. (not too sure what that has to do with it, but is the law in USA)
Call the blood bank and check to be sure before driving down there!
