What is the difference between the different sugar alcohols commonly found in su!
Question: This is a random question but I'm curious. Is there a difference between common sugar substitutes such as Xylitol, Sorbitol, Isomalt and Lactitol in the way that they individually affect the body or more specifically the digestive tract? I know they all have adverse effects when too much is consumed. Basically I love to chew gum but when I chew the kind with Xylitol I get really sick. Why?

My daughter is and I have found out that shes okay with common sugar substitutes but the sugar alcohols really mess her levels up. Because they are slow acting sugars. And hard to control. For a normal person there is no big deal. But to why you are getting sick I don't know maybe your body don't like that kind?!
