Typically there are a battery of tests done by someone who specializes in pediatric development delay disorders and the autism spectrum. The criteria can be found in a book called the DSM-IV. It has all the psych disorders and their criteria. A regular pediatrician will probably refer the patient to a specialist to be assessed. There are numerous specialists to include psychiatrists, pediatricians, and psychologists.

They are looking for social, communication/verbal skills that are generally appropriate for the person's age to see if they fall within the spectrum of normal development.

They may also do some blood work to rule out metabolic disorders and other genetic factors that have similar onset to Asperger's and autism. Asperger's is one of the disorders on the autism spectrum. They are typically high-functioning with some social development delays and problems with abstract thought.

That's something thats diagnosed by a psychiatrist or a psychotherapist. I don't know if there are any tests persay, but its diagnosed by evaluating what the symptoms are and how long they have been occuring.

They don't really do a test. They like, talk to you and ask you stuff.
