Why is red wine and red meat accused of causing cancer?!

Question: I have recently heard in the news that they increase the chance of cancer formation. What are the accused substances inside these two products that do so?
And I would also like to know about the type of cancer they may generate.

Thank you for the valuable help.

Red Wine is suposed to stop cancer... not cause it...

Meat causes cancer mainly for 2 reasons...

1. Grilled Meat develops cancer causing chemicals when it is grilled.
2. Cholestrol.

Everything is accused of causing cancer now days.

I thought red wine in normal amounts was good for you...
but then I do not listen to what "they" say - Do it all in moderation and all is well.

I am not sure about the red wine, but it's a fact that red meat can increase your chances of cancer if it runs in your family because it is high in fat.

Sodium Nitrate is what gives the meat its "red color" It has been said to cause cancer.

I wouldnt worry, they say everything causes cancer. Tomatoes, gum, meat, should i go on?

because red is an evil color

Red wine has never been accused of causing cancer
