Is schitzophrania dangerous?!

Question: just curious

Answers: just curious

yeah 61% are dangerous

The people who have it sometimes are. But not always.

Can be if the schizophrenic doesn't take their medication. They can hear voices telling them to kill people - and it happens. They can also be a danger to themselves of course.

"The Zito Trust was established in 1994, following the inquiry into the care and treatment of Christopher Clunis who killed Jonathan Zito on 17 December 1992.

Christopher Clunis suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. He had a long history of violence, institutional care and non-compliance with treatment programmes, particularly MEDICATION".

no its not rly dangerous...my ex's bro has it and he's lovely!...he wouldnt lash out or anything hes just a bit hard to talk to and a wee bit quiet xx

Hmm...not physically.

But it might, very rarely, drive one into doing things they don't want to do say, like suicide, never heard a story like that, but hey could happen!

most of the time it is not. My step mom has it.

It can be if it is not treated properly some people can become dangerous.

Yes it isn't

The stigma attached to it is dangerous.
If people with schizophrenia take their medication as prescribed they can lead a relatively normal life.
Schizophrenics are more likely to kill themselves than anyone else, or become a victim of crime/violence because of their illness.
There are so many different types of schizophrenia too, which a lot of people do not realise. Some more severe than others.
Just because a person is diagnosed with Schizophrenia it does not mean they will become 'dangerous'.
The horror stories the media jump on are rare, and involve chronic cases of this illness.
Just like eczema, you can have it a bit or have it real bad.

Schizophrenia is a mental condition. This is sent in Infectious Diseases.

I don't know much about the subject, but I think the person changes personalities.

From my slight understanding of the subject, the subject has to be on medication to help them. Some Schizophrenics are more dangerous than others.

Do you mean "Schizophrenia"?
Schizophrenia is characterized by psychosis (loss of contact with reality), hallucinations (false perceptions), delusions (false beliefs), disorganized speech and behavior, flattened affect (restricted range of emotions), cognitive deficits (impaired reasoning and problem solving), and occupational and social dysfunction. The cause is unknown, but evidence for a genetic component is strong. Symptoms usually begin in adolescence or early adulthood. One or more episodes of symptoms must last
