As other answers have said it would be wise to seek help from a pulmonologist who specializes in lung functions. You should see about having a lung function test done and getting down to the root of the problem. He may prescribe some anti anxiety medication for you. Possible O2 also.

You need to go see a pulmonary doc and get an order for home oxygen therapy.

GET SOME NEW DOCTORS!!!! You probably should be on oxygen therapy or something if your O2 levels are that low. That is a medical emergency! Your brain is being deprived of oxygen as well as the rest of your body. You need to tell them that they need to listen to what you are saying.

Ask your doctor for a prescription of Xanax or Ativan to take when you get anxious. Are you on oxygen all the time? If not, then maybe you should be. Or at least have a tank at home to use during these moments. Good luck and God Bless

"one working lung", low 02 levels, anxiety, oxygen administration produces some relief.....

Ok, I know that you said that your one working lung was caused by a "diving" accident...could you have typoed that and meant "d_r_iving accident"? Actuallly it doens't matter...cause either case should allow for the lung to refunction again..maybe at a lower functioning level, but still...there are some healing that goes on in any accident.

First off, like everyone has said, you need a PULMONARY doctor to exaimine you...and he is gonna get a PFT aka Pulmonary Function Test. He's gonna make you blow your brains out....but it is a way to find out how much lung function you have.

And whether you know it or not, and I suspect that you do know this, no one in the medical field is gonna panic at oxygen Saturations levels at 90-93%. Tain't gonna happen..I don't care that normal people have oxygen saturation levels at 96% +/- a point or two. ....Now, the nurses will panic at 89
%, but not a good doctor or the Respiratory Therapist. A bad doctor maybe, but a good doc...nah...tain't gonna happen. No, they only panic when it becomes 88% or lower....and by that time, if you ain't panic-ed, then you is dead from heart failure due to panic.

And why does your oxygen get low? Do you panic? Cuz if you do, then yeah, your 02 level will be low...Hands get clammy, sweaty,...breathing gets more labored, and deepeer...all because of your anxiety...and that anxiety is compounded by the fact that when you get short of breath, you'd panic and breath faster and deeper...and then your fingers turn numb....tingly even... Wanna fix that? get a paper bag and breath into it....and try to slow down...I know that you are panic-ed and all, but slow breathing is better for you...

And yeah, anxiety pills are a good thing in your case.

So, to recap...

1[ get a pulmonary doc...some one else said that...
2] get a PFT....find out just how bad is/are your lungs.
3] Panic attachs need a good brown paper bag to re-breath into..it helps get your breathing back in order and slows your breathing down a bit.
4] also get a nocturnal oxygen study [NOS for short] and find out what your oxygen saturation is at night...if low, you may need 02 at night. and with a sat of 90-93%, there's a good chance that you might need 02 at night.

I know we didn't discuss number 4 but still, it's a good idea...If you do it right, talk to an 02 vendor and you might get it for free...and it shouldn't cost you any more than $50 total...Not out of pocket money...
