Does it hurt when they remove moles?!
Question: I have a very small one on my back, smaller than a pea and it is not flat. If i got it removed what would the doctors do, and would i need stitches?
thanks!

The procedure to remove a mole doesn't hurt because the doctor would use a local anesthetic to deaden the skin first. You wouldn't feel anything in the immediate area. In all likelyhood you would get a few stitches, yes. To remove a mole intact, doctors usually take out an oval shaped bit aroung the mole, then line up the cut edges and suture them together to close the skin, It makes for a much nicer looking scar afterwards. On the back your skin doesn't have a lot of nerves for pain, so it probably wouldn't bother you much once the anesthetic wore off. Certainly nothing that a bit of Motrin or Tylenol wouldn't cover. The stitches come out in a few days time, probably about a week- and that doesn't hurt at all. Your mole is sent off to be checked, to make sure it's just a garden variety mole, and you move on to the rest of your life. It's not a big deal, honestly. Ever stubbed a toe? It hurts a lot less to part with a mole as a rule. You survived the stubbed toe, you can survive the mole removal.
