Why does snot hurt your nose when you have a cold?!
Question: The mucous itself does not hurt, however the constant moisture causes breakdown of the skin at the junction with the face. This can become secondarily infected with bacteria and the raw area produced is sensitive and tender. The mucosa inside the nose also becomes inflamed.
