Is this a good cardio workout?!

Question: Is this a good cardio workout?
Will this help burn quite a bit of fat? Is this enough or should I add more?
2 miles on the elliptical in I think it was 23 minutes
2 miles on the treadmill in 23 minutes
6 miles on the bike in around 23 minutes
(I really don't know why they all end up at 23! Haha!)

Is this a good cardio 3 times a week or should I add more to it? If this means anything, I do this 3 times a week and lift 3 times a week (days when i lift, i still run 1-1.5 miles and bike a bit) then on sunday just play basketball or racquetball. Is this a good workout schedule?any changes? Am I burning enough fat? I'm 16, 235 lbs and want to be around 200 by June 1st

I Changed up my diet a while back and have been sticking to it and dry sauna for about 20 minutes after each workout with a sweatshirt on, and I drink a TON of water

How much can I expect to lose?
(I drink shakeology for breakfast every morning, take two metabolism boosting multivitamins after dinner every night, a metabolism boosting preworkout shake before each workout and p90x post workout recovery formula after each workout)

Answers:

It's a good cardio workout if you are burning the number of calories you want to burn and you are getting results. I don't say this to be a jerk, but it is the truth. You have to know what is happening with your calories each day.

You should get a good heart rate monitor that also measures calories burned. Then you will know your actual activity burn. Once you know this, you can figure out your total daily caloric needs and then adjust your intake so you have a daily deficit. If you find you are consuming more than you burn, then you have two options: either decrease your intake or adjust your cardio to burn more calories.

Also remember that if you go too low with calories your body can slip into starvation mode and it will start to hang on to calories.

Continue with your resistance training and possibly increase the weight. For every extra 1lb of muscle you have, your body uses around an extra 50 calories a day! This means an extra 10lb of muscle will burn roughly an extra 500 calories a day without you doing anything - and that's a sufficient amount to lose 1lb in a week.

How much can you expect to lose? It's hard to say given so may personal variables. Don't shoot for more than 2lbs lost per week as it really isn't healthy. But if you add muscle, continue with cardio and eat right your body could become a fat burning machine and you could see more than 2lbs per week lost.

Remember to adjust your caloric needs as you begin to lose weight.

If you have the P90X program, there is a lot of great info in the nutrition guide. If purchased through Beachbody you also have access to your free coach and the Team Beachbody website. Both have tons of tools, resources and information to help you reach your goals (even if you aren't using a Beachbody program)

I hope this helps a bit.

You could cut down your workout be half the time and burn the same amount of calories. Look up high intensity interval training. Do that and you will burn a TON of fat.

i did it

I think you should try to get 30 minutes out every day. Even if it's a pathetic attempt, just keep moving for 30 minutes. You'll notice it gets easier and easier. You need a good motivation to keep moving. Just keep telling yourself 'im not dead yet' and then go another minute. Just when you've had enough, go another minute, take another step. Every step you take is a step closer to a slimmer you

but other than what I said, your plan looks pretty decent, the key is to keep pushing yourself though. like, if you get too used to doing the same routine then you will notice a change and then your body will just become level and used to only doing what you're doing.

my suggestion add 30 seconds- 1 minute to your workout erry day. then after 2 weeks or so, it'll be pretty easy, so add 3-4 minutes every day, then sort of get a snowball rolling down a mountain effect.

eh?
