This is not an uncommon occurrence for young men (and certainly not for older ones) - it's just not as simple an action as it seems to be. I would recommend against over-the-counter ED remedies; there is no regulation of what may be in them and you could wind up doing some harm to yourself. For a while, why not take a break from trying to prove something and just relax and go with what happens?
I'm amazed you have such an open line of communication with your dad! There are any number of reasons why you had the problem you had, and I note from previous questions that you have some other issues going on. However, if you want another opinion on these things, you may email me to discuss more.
It could be your nerves, fatigue or just not in the mood. try relexing and do not rush things
Performance anxiety is the most common cause of losing or not getting an erection. It is the result of being in your head worrying about whether or not you will get hard or stay hard. Once you start to do that you get caught in a "fear of failure" cycle which keeps reinforcing itself. How to deal with this problem is explained in simple terms in a small inexpensive book on premature ejaculation.
There are a lot of high-priced programs advertised online but all you need is this inexpensive little book written by a doctor and sex therapist that has been used successfully for more than 32 years.
It is called "Lasting Longer: The Treatment Program for Premature Ejaculation" by Dr. Sy Silverberg M.D. For more information just enter the doctor’s name in any search engine: Dr. Sy Silverberg M.D.
A lot of people might end up thumbing this answer down, because it's a solution that involves medication..
Regardless, just trust me on this one.
Go on the web and Google and purchase some horny goat weed pills. Read about them a little first.
Do you know how much Viagara and similar substances cost? Around $10 for every pill, that's why there's such a huge internet Spam market for them. Yes, you could go see your doctor, he may be reluctant to prescribe you anything at first, but he should be able to do it.
Another avenue to explore = do you have any fetishes? Could be the problem is that your interests aren't being sufficiently explored.
EDIT:
Notice how I didn't include a link.
Notice how Esta (apparently a doctor who spends their day hours gratuitously linking people to viagra sites on Yahoo! Answers) did. This is an example of the SPAM I was referring to.
