If the doctor does not figure out about the pituitary - it depends on what hormone is low - some will kill you - notably ADH, ACTH or TSH.

But a body is resilient and could go for a while.

There are several things that can cause testosterone to drop. While the pituitary signals them with LH and FSH, men also have a certain amount of estrogen that can convert to estrogen. Estrogen and testosterone freely convert back and forth so you need to get both tested. There are also many forms of testosterone so make sure your doctor tests all of them. Another source of testosterone comes from the adrenal glands so make sure DHEA sulfate is also tested.

High cortisol can also make cortisol levels drop. So your doctor needs to test you carefully for the source of your issue.

If you have had an MRI and know your issue is for sure pituitary, make sure you go to a pituitary center and see a neuro-endo for competent help. Also make sure you get copies of everything and read up.

The pituitary gland is the controller for all other glands in the body and works with the pineal gland which senses hormone levels and signals the pituitary gland which responds by releasing chemicals into the blood stream which regulate the production from all other glands including your testicles for testosterone.

In simplification description and example, it can also introduce an enzyme into your blood stream which converts testosterone into estrogen when surplus levels of testosterone are detected. This action causes a reduction in testosterone production by your testicles, based on the amount of enzyme action and the amount.

If you have no pituitary gland, you would be placed medically on a stabilizing medication of hormones and enzymes by an endocrinologist and monitored on a regular basis to keep hormonal balance.

You could live a full happy life span with maybe a few more bumps from the average healthy person.

If you have this issue - why haven't you discussed this with your medical doctor? Nobody here is qualified to make a diagnosis.
