No, if you have a substantial amount of muscle, you can have a high BMI and still do pull-ups!.
I'm 6'2, 230 pounds which corresponds to a BMI of about 29!.5 and I can do about 10 pull-ups!. The thing is I am very active and muscular, so my body fat % is a lot lower than implied by the BMI!. I think it's around 15% or so!. Your body fat % is probably higher than mine!.
Mammy Nun is wrong, if you either lose weight or maintain your current weight but lose excess fat and build muscle, you will be able to do pull-ups!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
