Symptoms of inguial hernia?!
Question: I have been having symptoms and a bit of pain to boot. I believe that it may be a hernia, as the pressure/pain seems to increase when I bare down.
Some symptoms of mine:
- Moderate pain in left side, shooting through to back at times.
- Increased pain and pressure when bareing down in the bathroom.
- A pulsing sensation in groin & scrotum, sometimes feeling a "numbing" or tingling effect.
- Sperm output significantly reduced.
I know you guys can be tough on YA, but if you would take a moment and think "if it were me," and keep the garbage answers to yourself? I am really a bit worried.
Scheduled ultrasound next week. Should I wait that long? or push for sooner appointment.

This most definately sounds like a hernia to me. My husband had been suffering from these same symptoms last year- and it was a hernia. He had to have some minor surgery done, but nothing to worry about. It's good that you already have a doctor's appointment for this. If you're really in bad pain and uncomfortable and feel anxious , I would find out if they have something sooner. The sooner you get in the better. It will set your mind at ease. It probably is a hernia. Ultra sound will tell them what the severity is. If it were strangulated you would have constant severe pain so try not to worry. Sometimes with hernias men and boys develop a hydroceal ( spelling sorry pronounced hydro - seal) in the scrotum. This is like a sack of water . The surgery is now done with a scope and is very routine and not as painful a recovery time as the traditional surgery. No need to be mortified, all it is , is a loop of intestine that slips through the muscle wall , doctor will push the intestine back where it belongs and repair the muscle . Good luck
It definetely sounds like a hernia, but the one key sympton you left out was whether there is sometimes a bump underneath your skin, but other times it just is not there. The only person who can identify a hernia is your doc.
If it is hernia, it's not that much to be worried about. Your surgeon just makes a small incision where the hernia is, maybe an inch to an inch and a half, and just pushes the hernia in. When my sister had one, they didn't even give her stitches, just a peice of holding tape.
Calm down and just talk to your doctor. It's certainly not a life threatening problem!!
