I was raised in a Roman Catholic family, though I currently practice no faith. I don't really have a label for my beliefs, but when asked, I usually respond "Agnostic" because it tends to make things easier for other people.
Some Christian churches speak out against masturbation as a sin because sexual pleasure is meant for procreation and not material enjoyment. There are several passages in the bible referring to the dangers of passion, the importance of marriage, Onan's sin of wasting his seed, or other things that suggest that masturbation is not condoned by the Christian god Yahweh. However, masturbation is never specifically mentioned in the scriptures of the Old or New Testaments.
Most religious scholars view masturbation as immoral but over all a venial sin. It is more common that you'll find religious believers being opposed to masturbation than religious scholars, who understand that contextually, there are much worse sins out there to worry about.
I personally, of course, think masturbation is not only natural and important to a child's self-discovery, but completely harmless so long as it is done in privacy and with care to the sensitive nature of the genitals.

I am a christian who is also openly lesbian. Of course it is okay for you to masturbate. It is your body and it is normal to touch yourself and figure out what feels good for you. At your age it is also a healthy way of handling all the hormones rushing through your body.

Christian...To tell you the truth, I think its ok. Its not like you're fornicating. Because that's between to people. And everyone has there needs. But if you feel wrong for doing what your doing, just pry and ask the lord to take the urge away.

I am christian and seminary trained counselor. It is okay to masturbate as much as you want as often as you feel the need. In order to be a sin an act must be mentioned by God or his prophets as something we should not do. Masturbation is not mentioned in the bible in either the old or new testament. Some pastors talk about Onan. Onan't sin was that he did not obey God and have sex with his sister in-law to get her pregnant so she would inherite his older brother land after he died. Onan would withdraw and ejaculate on the ground rather than inside her. That is not masturbation. So no mention no sin. Now you still need to keep it personal and private, you do not look at pornography, and while young do not fantisize about that pretty little girl in homeroom. Just use your masturbation time to get to know your body and your sexual needs, use it to control your sexual anxiety so that you do not get erections during the day as much. Masturbate to relax, and just feel good. It really is okay, not a sin, and it is really good for your body.
