Why do MALES wash AFTER using the restroom? It makes sense that we should wash B!
Question: I'm really looking for answers to this question, rather than opinion. To me it makes sense (assuming one is clean before hand) that you would WANT to wash before you go. So you don't get everyone elses bacteria on yourself.

You should wash before and after you go to the toilet. Washing before rids your hands of germs and bacteria that you could put on yourself from other sources (shaking hands, touching door handles, telephones, the handrails in public transportation). Washing after assures that you don't pass any bacteria that have come from you to other people. Incidentally, I heard about a study that said men who don't wash their hands after urination pass not only urine but small amounts of semen onto surfaces they touch afterwards.
I'm a man and I wash both before and after using the washroom. I do so for exactly the reason you stated and for the reasons I mentioned.
You need to wash after because you can still pick up bacteria from touching yourself. No matter how clean you think you are, there is bacteria present. Washing before and after is the first step to preventing bacteria and disease transmission.

You're right you need clean hands and so it is recommended that you wash your hands both BEFORE and AFTER using the toilet. Obviously before hand it would be for prevention of germs to your manhood. Afterwoods it would be for prevention of spread of germs to other things such as food surfaces etc

I wash before and after and I never shake any body's hands. I have germx in every room of my offices and also at home. I know it is over kill but you guys have got to admit some of us are pretty nasty when it comes to restroom hygiene . I have seen some guys take a dump and walk right out of the restroom without even considering to wash his hands and go straight to lunch.
Washing before and after sounds like a great idea to me.
Don't just shake it afterward either, dap the tip with toilet paper.
Your question has merit, and the answers also make very good sense. Since we were all small guys, mom and dad knocked it into our heads (literally) to wash our hands after using the restroom. I wash before and after toilet use. Just for good measure, double gasket the seat if you have to sit.
Before and after is the way to go dear.
