Why am I so short. Also, what could I take(calcium?) to prohibite bone growth?!

Question: I'm 16 years old, and only about 5'6", I have short genes, but also the occasional HUGE uncle. wondering if a spurt is near, or if im doomed to a life of sub-dwarfism.

You are only 16 and have likely not finished your growth spurt yet. You might grow another inch or so.

Unfortunately, DNA has already decided how tall you are going to be and there is nothing you can do to change it. Calcium can strengthen bones but not make them longer.

Also...to "prohibite"means to stop something from happening or not allow something to happen (the correct spelling is "prohibit".

Calcium helps strengthen bones. If you have a large growth spurt it might not come until after High School. I went to school with a guy who was about 5'6". When I saw him at the mall about two years after High School he was 6'2" tall. When I saw how tall he was I was glad I never made fun of him.

dude im 15 and 5'6 my 2 older sisters are 5'11 my mums 5'10 my dads 5'11 my uncle is 6'0

I dont worry though we might just shoot up

I also heard that if you use weights to develope muscles that stops growth

I'd ask a doctor before you take calcium because calcium competes with absorption of other important minerals and nutrients. It's probably best just to eat a well balanced diet, don't smoke and take a good multivitamin recommended by your doctor.
