The key to trimming your stomach is not just sit ups.

First of all the only way to extend your stomach is to become either really fat or to never eat and look Ethiopian.

Now the best thing to do to get your stomach trim and abs tight is as follows:

1) Good balanced diet - so you don't keep feeding your body to make fat
2) Sit ups - 25 a session
3) Crunches - 100 a session
4) Jumping Jacks - 30 a session
5) Lunges - 30 a session
6) Yoga - Power Yoga is best 10 - 20 min a session.

These six things done at least 4 times a week will make your body trim and tone.
There are many various ways to do # 2 through #6. So figure out the ones you like the best and go for it.

Good luck.

sit ups are good for you stomach

um, you have abs, otherwise you would not be able to stand up.

you do not talk about what you are eating?
what other exercise will you be getting?

or are you planning on doing about 2500 sit ups a day? this is the only way you will convert the fat in your torso to muscle.

it depends, also, as you convert this fat, what situps you do. if you only do one kind, you will only enlarge and strengthen one group of abs. there are 5 pair starting just below the sternum all the way down to just above the pelvic mound (on both men and women)

so, really the question is back to you: what exactly are you trying to accomplish???

and finally: 13 is REALLY TOO YOUNG to begin an exercise regimen other than gentle walking up to an hour a day. most EDUCATED and HEALTHY physicians will tell you to NOT start any kind of working out until AFTER 14 years old. I am not a physician, however, i have worked out since i was 15 years old. AND i have 2 brothers that ARE doctors and that have also worked out since 15. i have another brother that was a semi pro powerlifter and he started working out at 14.

WAIT!!

fat cn NEVER b convertd 2 muscles
sit ups s a gud xercise bt do it in limit. around 150 situps @ a stretch r enuf 2 cause kidney disfunctionin

yeah.... sit-ups will not help you lose fat around your gut. i've read numerous articles in the past that have put "spot reduction" to rest... just eat well and get some exercise. fat will not be converted into muscle, anywhere, anyhow... do some cardio.

Variety of exercise is the key I have found. For example..an exercise called Mountain Climbers. Its from a workout that also contains a section for females and males which is excellent.

Mountain climbers are done by starting in a pushup position
and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are
moving in under your chest and then back out to starting
position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on
the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in
addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full
body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.

After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before
starting the next exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after
completing each "tri-set" before repeating.

This will give you one of the best ab workouts you've ever had
without even doing any direct ab exercises. You'll see what I
mean after you try it!

Once you get away from the myth that a 1000 crunches and 500 situps a day is all you need to do for great abs, then amazing results can be seen.

There is a completely free 65 page ebook about exercise, nutrition, abs and stomaches in particular at http://www.projext.co.uk that you can download (no catch!) and it is excellent.

It helped me greatly.
