Was it mentioned that it is done to jewish boys when they are only 8 days old? It only takes a second or two and generally a drop of wine is placed on the baby's lips afterwards.

It is done when necessary to adults (totally the adult's decision). A local anesthetic is used and from what I am told (I had mine done when I was 8 days old) , once the stuff wears off it does hurt.

I cant say it hurts personally as I am female-but I have heard as you get older it does have pain-it's a small surgury. They pull the extra skin on the penis foward and snip it, sew you up and you're done :)

In the province of Philippine it is being done without any of anisthetic Child in the right age just chew a guwava leaves and have the knowledgable man to do the cutting of the prepuce. I have heard that on the first cut of the knife it hurts but on the second and third it hurt no more. But circumcision is also done in the hospital in the Philippines. Its just that there are old culture that is difficult to remove immediatly.

it is an operation in which skin over glans penis is removed .. it is good as chances of carcinoma over this skin kn as prepuce become nil..
so it is good to undergo circumcision without hesitancy .. it is a minor operation with minimal rest..
prevents cancer occurance .. good for future...
it can be done if condition such as phimosis, urinary disturbances during micturation occurs..

It is the removal of the foreskin. It is usually done during childhood for religious and non-religious reasons. Many religions prescribe circumcision as one of the requirements to keep one self clean.
When done during adulthood, it can be painful because of erections that one may have.

A circumcised penis is one that has had the foreskin cut off. So one with foreskin (how all boys are born) is uncircumcised, while one without it is circumcised. Here's an illustration:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/...

When erect they can appear very alike, since the foreskin pulls back.

Circumcision has become less common, though. Circumcision rates were as high as 90% back in the 1960s and 1970s (that's partly why today's adults are so... brainwashed, I supposed you could say, about thinking that circumcision is better) but they have fallen to as low as 14% in some states. Here are the statistics:

The USA is the last developed nation doing it to a large number of newborns without religious or medical needs. (Europeans, Latin Americans, Japanese, and most Australians, Canadians, and Asians don't circumcise):

Why?

There's pain involved, often why doctors don't want you in the room when it's done:

http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/1f21e.htm
(you can search online for a circumcision video, too)

In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:
http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/...

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head (which is why you don't hear of uncircumcised guys needing lube to masturbate).

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2855...

And despite being more sensitive, uncircumcised guys still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:

Circumcision makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs...

Which makes sense, that's how circumcision was promoted in the USA:

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:

If too much skin is removed in circumcision, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:

Circumcision does not completely stop penile cancer. The American Cancer Society has already confirmed the myth that circumcision = no cancer.
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/conten...

If circumcision did stop penile cancer, then penile cancer would not be more common in the USA (most circumcised adults) than in some European nations, where circumcision is not practiced other than for medical/religious reasons.

And a new study found that circumcision does not reduce your chances to get HIV/AIDS. Unlike other studies, this one was done in a developed nation; the USA.

1. Removing of the foreskin from the Penis.
2. Anasthetic
3. Men don't like to do it nowadays.
4. Don't Know if it hurts.

Well in actuality Jews give a thimble of wine to the baby. In the USA a local cream or a local shot on secular boys! I was circumcised at 18 with a local and didn't feel a thing! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Its not as popular now as it was a few decades ago. Now only around 15% of men worldwide are circumsized. If you want to know more, see the below link.

Google it

It is done at birth unless a parent signs a waiver. The child is given an antithetic prior. This is for every one in th U.S. Some feel it is more sanitary. The Jewish did it for religious reason and hold a ceremony called a brit where it is done by a mohel.

Circumcision is the perfection of the human penis by the removal of the foreskin.

and there's a study that circumcised men are less to acquire HIV
