Ritalin medication ???

What are your feelings on ritalin ans what are the side effects of it on a 6 year old child so when he gets older how is he gona react and if the suicide rumors are correct and stuff??? Any information is needed...thanks..

well he takes it during the week an not on weekends then during school he takes it and then next summer doc pose to get him off by next summer....its only to get him to learn how to concentrate better cause he failed kindergarted first then this past year he was about to get kicked out of school cause of the way he acted ...so this year he passed to first grade finally ...i dont want him on this stuff the rest of his life ....an he isnt spaced out at all........we have seen a big difference in him completely.... he concentrates better, he minds lil better , an yea kids pose to be kids i get that but not when they cant learn at school we had to take it to the next level an i hate it but i couldnt let my 6 year old child keep failing school or get kicked out.........so i have heard alot of criticism about this from my family . Me an my husband didnt know what else to do .... the poor child was so fidgetty before his medicine .......now he can actually sit stilll for awhile...

My son started taking Ritalin after I got over my resistance to him trying it at age 8. The results were unbelievable. Within 2 weeks his grades had come up and the teachers were telling me "I don't know what you've done but please! keep doing it". He still takes it during the school year (school days only) and is the only med that works for him. He'll be in 9th this coming up year.
I don't persoanlly believe there is a link with suicide. I think it's more likely that ADD kids are already a little "off" and that suicide is a "naturally occuring" (for lack of better term) problem associated with them.
