My doctor recently told me she thinks i may be bi polar.. I have had trouble most of my life with feelings of depression and uselessness. also extreme highs and lows. One minute im fine, the next i hate the world. She wants me to take the drug Abilify.? I have read about this drug and its a drug used for skitzophrenia. Which i know i am not. I am afraid to take this drug. i currently take prozac and have been for several years. It doesnt seem to be working. Any suggestions

I'm bipolar and on Abilify. It works great for me. It is an anti-psychotic, which is what they use for schizophrenia, but it also helps control mania and has mood stablizing properties. Basically, it does a little bit of everything. It may not work for you, but it also might be just the right thing to level you out. The only way to find out is to try it, and there's no danger in that if you're taking it as directed by your doctor.
