i am an ex addict.
it is so hard to get out of it. you have to WANT to do it first. You have to realise that you are going to be cutting off all your drug acquaintences and then you have to get ready for months of sleeping and being tired.
i used heavily for four years and it was very, very difficult to quit. i knew it was time to give it up when i was shooting up and crying at the same time.
once i was physically better (had put on the weight i'd lost etc), i made an effort to contact old friends and otherwise keep myself busy. i avoided like the plague, all my old contacts and situations where i knew i would want to use.
i've now been clean for three years. quitting that junk was the best thing (but one of the hardest) i ever did.
