Question about prescrition drugs and their effects..?!

Question:

Question about prescrition drugs and their effects..?

Ok, I just want to know.. do antidepressants change your personality? What exactly do they do to you? I was supposed to go on them about 4-5 years ago (I'm almost 20 now) and never did but I'm considering it now. But do they just make you happy? Do they change what you're like? The same question I'm putting our for ritalin (or the adult equivalent). Does it change your personality or just make you be able to concentrate and such?

Answers:

No, they do not change your personality. I think once the depression lifts that it can change your lifestyle. When I get depressed I don't want to get out of bed and I get this feeling in my stomach, kind of a heavy feeling. I feel hopeless and full of shame. The antidepressants take all that away and I am sad when it is appropriate. I cry when my dog dies or at a sad movie. I am not so hypersensitive. I think the antidepressants do make your quality of life better but it isn't going to make you a new person. Just the same person with a different prospective.
