What is this?!

Question:

What is this?

I suffered from anxiety and started taking meds. After a year and a half I recently had the weirdest and scariest symptom. Out of the blue I got a strong thought that I was becoming crazy. It was not me who was thinking this but a thought that came out of nowhere. I would like you to tell me if you have felt this (please describe), what solution did you take to solve this.

Answers:

During a panic attack it's common for people to be afraid they are going crazy. If you have a very strong imagination, you may even believe you are crazy or think that your thoughts are not your own. It's the anxiety.

During panic attacks and days full of anxiety. My imagination is very strong and when I'm panicking it can take over. I've been convinced I had cancer or that I was going crazy and that my thoughts were not my own. For me, it's just anxiety combined with a wicked imagination. Try some relaxation techniques like reasoning with this idea. It's impossible that this thought was not yours. It was in your brain! If you get fixated on this idea and cannot reason with it, seek help.

Then again, since you are disturbed by this and are under the care of a doctor, tell him.
