Question: I think i might have bipolar disorder, and i live in the UK..?
Answers:
If you think you do you can go to your local Gp and if he feels you do, he will refer you to a psychiatrist. If he feels you dont he will most likely send you a refferal for counseling services. Don't think he dont believe you though. More often than not he will send you to a counselor first so that she can see what the problem is and if it doesn't help after a while, he will then make you an appointment with a psychiatrist. You must remember, psychiatrist are not there to listen. You spend maybe 5 mins with them usually on account of how busy they are. They are there to treat an existing condition that your gp thinks you have. They usually only ask whats wrong in general, medications, and your next appointment. Therefor speak out to your doctor and counselor in the meantime to create a short list of say the 3 worse things that your problems are. A psychiatrist can read over your medical records and with your list try to pinpoint the problems and see if you need meds or not. Good luck
Talk to your family doctor. You need to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Speak to your GP. They will give you referrals. Good luck.
