Is it normal to be anxious and scared when you first start talking with a therap!
Question: Is it normal to be anxious and scared when you first start talking with a therapist?
Answers:
Yes it's absolutely normal. I mean think about it: you're expected to talk to a complete stranger about very personal details of your life and even your inner thoughts. And with therapists you often feel that they are in some position where they could cause you trouble. It takes a while to learn to trust someone enough to talk about things and maybe with some very personal issues you might never be entirely comfortable talking about it to someone else.
But it's great that you do and it seems to help you and it seems like you are slowly building up that trust, so keep going with that.
It is absolutely normal being anxious talking about deep feelings, etc. As you develop trust with your therapist those anxious feelings will lessen. Being alive is anxiety producing! Hang in there and stay open and honest.
