is there a mental disorder that would make you calculate things in your head all!
Question: Is there a mental disorder that would make you calculate things in your head all the time?
My husband looks very tired and depressed lately.
He told me that he calculates very complicated math problems in his head all the time, even in his sleep.
One of them is the distance in between the earth and the moon. It makes him very anxious because he tell me that there are holes in the moon and so the distance wouldn't be the same depending on where you go on the moon.
Is there a specific mental illness that would make someone like this? He is afraid he is going to end up crazy.

Answers:
That's not a sign of specific mental disorder; obsessions with certain things are a symptom of many different disorders. If I had to pick one, I'd go for OCD, but I'm not an expert.
