There are different kinds of depression. Some are due to circumstances going on in your life and only require temporary help. Then there is the disease of depression which is lifetime and requires the right safe medications that will allow you to live a happy and productive life. It takes a specialist, a psychiatrist to make a correct diagnosis and determine the right kind of treatment that would help you.

Depends who is suffering from the depression. Chronic means continuing a long time or recurring frequently; so if someone has depression for a long time/thats reoccuring, it would be chronic. If they only had depression for a few months and were fine after that, their case would not be chronic.
But yet, depression can be categorized as chronic, as it CAN last for a long time in some cases.

If it went on for more than 6 months, yes. BUT, it would have to altar everyday life.
