I don't know if people so much as shy away from you when you ask what causes Dyslexia, as much as they really just don't know!. From what I understand about Dyslexia, people REALLY still ARE uncertain about what the exact cause is!. The fact that your mom has it could be a very strong link to why you have it, but it didn't mean you WOULD have had it for sure!.!.!.it just happens to be that way!. I don't think that it is a matter of you thinking differently either, but more, that your brain PERCEIVES things differently!. Mainly, the temporal lobes of the brain (on both sides, right near the ears), and the occipital lobe (at the back of the head) are responsible for how we perceive what we hear (temporal) and what we see (occipital)!. I believe when it comes to Dyslexia, that there may just be a difference in what the person perceives they see when they read something!.!.!.so it would be neurological!. And if you really want to get down to it, it doesn't make the person 'wrong' per se!.!.!.it just isn't what the majority of the people see!. The fact that you added at the end that you have a high IQ and that you're not "retarded" makes me think that you may have some shame issues (consciously or subconsciously) related to all of this!. OF COURSE you're not retarded! In fact, you're probably smarter than most because not only do you have the challenge of overcoming what could be a neurological programming issue in your brain (which, who knows, might help you decrypt something someday), but you've had to re-train your brain to see things how everyone else sees things! I'd say you're pretty smart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
