Why is Depression and Mental Illness stigmatized?!
Question: Why is Depression and Mental Illness stigmatized!?
Answers:
Because people can't easily accept other people who look or behave differently, and it needs thousands of years of gentle persuasion to make the society accept some thing as "natural" (such as the flu) and other things "unnatural" (such as mental illnesses, mental retardation or congenital malformations)!. The latter were also seen as punishment from the God(s) or a sign of the evil forces!.
Fortunately, the development of medical sciences helped us understand that mental illnesses are to be treated equally with other illnesses, and that there should be no difference between a diabetic and a depressed person - they both need all the help and care they can get!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's easier to ignore the suffering if you're not one of them!. Or because you were once there but find it too hard to go back!. It's become too common a thing really, everyone has depression now, when they don't even know the meaning of the word!. Depression hits you hard in the gut!. You can't function!. Everything is meaningless!. You are worthless and you are constantly reminding yourself that everyday!. Also, people are afraid of what they don't understand!. So someone thinks they went through depression because they were down for a few weeks, but then finally starting feeling better by getting back into their daily routine!. That's just life!. That's not depression!. People just don't bounce back from it and its hard for most people to grasp that concept!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
